It depends on style, height, length, and your particular job site. Vinyl costs more up front than wood or chain-link, but with no painting, staining, and less general repairs and upkeep, it typically costs less over the life of the fence. Most break evens happen within 5 years or less. Your local pro provides an exact quote on your specific job.
MAINTENANCE & DURABILITY
Almost none. No painting, staining, or sealing — an occasional rinse with a garden hose and maybe a wipe down with a microfiber rag keeps it looking new. The non-porous surface won't warp, splinter, crack, or peel.
Quality vinyl is engineered with UV inhibitors and the color runs through the material, so it resists fading and chalking far better than painted wood or metal. All material — no matter what it is made of — will eventually weather with time. Vinyl performs exceptionally.
Vinyl is easy to repair — individual pickets, rails, or panels can typically be swapped without rebuilding the whole run. Your installer can source matching profiles.
COLORS & STYLES
Four standard colors — White, Tan, Khaki, and Gray. Availability varies by profile; your local pro can show physical samples in your own light before anything is installed.
